The Polk County (Florida) Public Library Cooperative has implemented a novel approach for services in a populous region within its territory without a library: a pair of vending machines loaded with DVDs and books.
The machines are integrated into the cooperative's ILS and allow any patron to check out these materials with a quick swipe of their library card.
