Job Description
The Birmingham Urban League has an immediate opening for a Job
Developer/Job Readiness instructor in the Workforce Development Training
Program. The Job Developer will assist participants in clarifying
educational and career goals and coordinates/develops job placement
activities to aid participants in locating positions related to their
identified skills and abilities. Works closely with other staff to
coordinate community service and internship placements for program
participants. Duties include working with community- and faith-based
organizations as well as employers to facilitate the provision of
program services.
Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business
Administration, Business Education, Sociology, or a related field.
Minimum of two (2) years vocational training, job placement and /or
human resources experience. Strong interpersonal and presentation
skills. Excellent communication skills (written, verbal) and computer
skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Valid
Alabama driver’s license required.

Counselor/Case Manager

The Birmingham Urban League has an immediate opening for a
Counselor/Case Manager in its Workforce Development Training Program.
The Counselor/Case Manager is responsible for case management of
individual clients from intake to program completion and will perform
assessments, document client progress through a continuum of program
services and assist clients in developing Individual Career Plans.
Desired Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in field of social sciences, behavioral sciences,
education or related field, or minimum of two years direct experience in
adolescent, substance abuse, and/or family counseling; preference of a
counseling and/or case management certification. Must possess good
interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work independently
and as part of a team. Computer skills and valid Alabama Drivers
License required.

participants who are ready to take the GED test.
Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in Education or
related field, Licensure/Certification, minimum of five years
teaching/training experience, strong organizational and computer skills,
communication and interpersonal skills.

Computer Instructor

Job Description
The Birmingham Urban League has an immediate opening for a Computer
Instructor in its Workforce Development Training Program. Specific
duties and responsibilities include: instruct participants in the
subject areas of applications to be covered (Microsoft Windows,
Microsoft Office Suite, and Navigating the Internet); develop lesson
plans to implement curriculum outline for all applications taught,
submit student progress reports as related to internal case management
and student evaluation; provide individualized instruction to students
requiring special attention toward obtaining program goals; implement
program curriculum, monitor participant’s progress; evaluate progress;
and report completion status for participants; counsel participants
regarding progress, implement corrective action for improving
deficiencies; maintain attendance and retention records on all
participants.
Minimum qualifications include Bachelor’s Degree in
Secretarial/Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business
Education, or related field; minimum of three years teaching/training
experiences; and strong interpersonal, communication and presentation
skills.
