If we were allowed to cite our sources when we answer the quiz questions, we could still submit answers that, if not what expected, could still be verified.
Quiz 1 Question #10: How many Medals of Honor were won by black soldiers in World War II? [7] [Oxford, FOF]
According to the database entry I read (http://www.oxfordaasc.com/article/opr/t0002/e2653?hi=7&highlight=1&from=quick&pos=1)...
"In 1996 the Department of Defense decided to honor seven African Americans with Medals of Honor for their heroism during World War II. During the war itself not one African American soldier was judged worthy of the nation's highest military honor."
So, the answer could be 0 or 7, depending on how one interprets the question.
This is all in good fun, and I think this is a great way to familiarize ourselves with the databases, but the devil is in the details. By not asking the Quiz makers to hunt down every last variation of answer, but also providing the quiz takers a data field in which they could paste their sources, we could accomodate varying answers and still show that we were doing what we came to do: learn how to use the databases.
